Journey to Chile, Tours Chile (21 days/ 20 nights)

On this tour, travel to the most beautiful places within the country. Embark on various excursions and explore the marvels and natural gems of this narrow stretch of land.

In three weeks you will not only discover a rich culture and magical history of Chile, but also impressive landscapes. Visit the Chilean Altiplano, the Atacama Desert, Valparaiso, Puerto Varas, Frutillar, Puerto Octay, the waterfalls of Petrohue, Chiloé, Puerto Natales, the mysterious Easter Island and much more!

  • Day 1 Day 1. Santiago de Chile

    Arrival in the city of Santiago, reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel, acommodation. In the afternoon we will realize a beautiful city tour through Santiago where we will visit the main attractions and enjoy some of the best views over the capital of Chile. Some of these points of interest are the mountain Santa Lucia, the Central Square, the Government Palace, the Market and the Mountain San Cristobal. Transfer to the hotel.

  • Day 2 Day 2. Santiago – Calama – San Pedro de Atacama – Moon Valley

    In the morning we will transfer you to the airport of Santiago.


    Arrival at the airport of Calama, transfer to San Pedro de Atacama.


    Afternoon: Moon Valley


    Departure from the hotel at 16:00 hrs to enjoy a panoramic view over the Cordillera of the Andes, the Great Salt Lake of the Atacama, the Oasis of San Pedro and the Cordillera of the Salt. We move on to visit the Death Valley (also called Mars Valley), exploring its labyrinths and canyons on an easy hike of about 35 minutes. After a stop at the Salt Caves, where you can appreciate the heart of salt, gypsum  and clay, we continue to the Moon Valley, visiting the Amphitheater, the Three Marias and finishing the day with an impressive view over the Andes.

  • Day 3 Day 3. Highland Lagoons – Lagoon Cejar

    Departure at 07:00 am. We leave San Pedro de Atacama to go south and cross the graben of the Salt Lake of the Atacama to visit the village of Toconao with its colonial church and the old fruit gardens. From there we move on to the Great Salt Lake of the Atacama, the third biggest in the world and the one with the highest Lithium production on earth.  Also we visit the Lagoon Chaxa, part of the Flamingo National Reserve. The excursion continues to the village of Socaire, located at an altitude of 3.250m over sea level and at a distance of 89km of San Pedro. It is a prehispanic village characterized by cultivated terraces and its beautiful church. Nowadays it is well known for the typical food of the Atacama. We move on to the Highland lagoons Miscanti and Meñiques, located over 3.500m over sea level and surrounded by the mountains of the Andes. It is one of the few places where you can find the Horned Tagua, among many other species of birds and mammals like the Andean Fox and the Vicuña. Return to San Pedro, arrival around 15:00 hrs.


    Afternoon: Lagoon Cejar


    We leave San Pedro around 16:00 hrs. At 30km south of the town you can find surprisng lagoons located in the Salt Lake of the Atacama. First of all we will visit the Lagoon Cejar, a lagoon of Green color and a White shore due to the high amount of salt in the water. This high concentration of salt allows you to flow easily just like in the Dead Sea. You will have the time to enjoy a bath, then we return to San Pedro de Atacama.

  • Day 4 Day 4. San Pedro de Atacama – Tatio Geyser

    Departure at 04:00 am northwards. We cross the hills and mountains of the Cordillera of the Andes to get to the Tatio Geysers after about 1,5 hours. They are located 89km from San Pedro at an altitude of 4.230m over sea level. The geothermic field consists of more than 80 active geysers of different magnitudes and has to be visited very early for in the morning the water shoots with more intensity. This is due to the high differece between water temperature and atmospheric temperature at sunrise which causes condensation of the steam. In Summer the atmospheric temperature reaches about - 6ºC and in Winter it can reach -20 ºC. You will get time to visit different geysers and steam columns and also to take a bath in the natural thermal pool. We will have breakfast at the geysers, then we return to San Pedro passing the village of Machuca. Arrival approximately at 12:00 hrs in San Pedro.

     

  • Day 5 Day 5. Archaeological Tour Atacama

    Breakfast at the hotel. At 09:00 am we visit the fort of Quitor and the Cordillera of the Salt. Arrival at the ruins of Tulor which are more than 3000 years old. Return to San Pedro de Atacama via the Ayllu of Sequitor. Return to the hotel around 13:00 hrs.

  • Day 6 Day 6. San Pedro de Atacama – Calama – Puerto Montt

    Departure from San Pedro de Atacama to the airport of Calama. Flight to Santiago and then to Puerto Montt. Arrival in Puerto Montt, transfer to the beautiful city of Puerto Varas. Hotel.

  • Day 7 Day 7. Puerto Varas – Frutillar – Puerto Octay

    The next day of our excursion starts with a visit of Llanquihue, a city founded by German colonialists at the shore of the lake that presents typical German architecture.


    We continue our journey on an old route surrounding the lake Llanquihue until we get to the precios city of Frutillar. It is famous for its architecture, the beautiful gardens and the impressive views of the volcanoes Osorno and Puntiagudo. Here we will visit the German Colonial Museum and afterwards we move on to Puerto Octay, a pintoresque colonial village that was declared „typical zone“ by the council of National Monuments.  In the afternoon we return to Puerto Varas.

  • Day 8 Day 8. Waterfalls of Petrohue – Navigation All Hallows Lake – Volcano Osorno

    Departure from the city of Puerto Varas surrounding the lake Llanquihue until we get to the town of Ensenada. Here we enter the National Park Vincente Perez Rosales where we visit the spectacular “Saltos de Petrohue” (Waterfalls). In continuation we visit the All Hallows Lake to realize a two-hour-tour on a catamaran, appreciating the beauty of the volcanoes Osorno, Puntiagudo and Tronador.


    When we reach the village Peulla you will have some free time to realize different activities like horseriding, fishing excursions, trips in jet boat, jeep safari or just relaxing and enjoying a tasty lunch in one of the local restaurants. In the afternoon we will return to Petrohue to take the route to Ensenada and finally back to Puerto Varas. Arrival at the hotel.

  • Day 9 Day 9. Puerto Varas – Chiloé

    In the morning we depart to the Great Island of Chiloé where we visit the northern part of the Island and the Golf of Ancud. You will get to know the history, habits and legends of the region. We will cross the Canal of Chacao, a boat ride of 30 minutes that allows us to appreciate the variety of birds and sea lions until we get to the town of Chacao famous for its church and the colorful wooden houses.


    We continue the trip towards the village of Caulin, located in a bay that is specialized in extracting seafood and cultivating algae and oysters. Then we get to Ancud, the second most important city of Chiloé. Here we visit the museum, the fort of San Antonio and the handicraft market. While we circle the peninsula of Lacuy we pass various villages of fishermen and gatherers of algae, then we get to a quiet beach called Mar Brava. In the afternoon we return to Puerto Varas.

  • Day 10 Day 10. Puerto Varas – Puerto Montt – Punta Arenas – Puerto Natales

    Transfer from the hotel to the airport to take the flight to the city of Punta Arenas. Reception at the airport and transfer to the city. In the afternoon we visit the city of Punta Arenas where you will get to know the Monument of the Sheperd, the viewing point of the Cross Mountain and its catedral. Then we realize the transfer to Puerto Natales. Hotel.

  • Day 11 Day 11. National Park Torres del Paine

    Breakfast in the hotel, then we realize one of the most important excursions of the whole trip, the journey to Torres del Paine. We start the day visiting the Cave Milodon where good preserved relicts of prehistoric mammals were found that lived in the region 12.000 years ago. From there we continue towards the National Park Torres del Paine. We visit the Bitter Lagoon which fascinates with its white shore covered by salt and the great number of birds habiting in it. Afterwards you can observe the mountain massifs of Paine in the company of some guanacos until we get to the viewing point Lake Nordenskjold. Here you will have an ideal view to see the Mount Almirante Nieto and the Peaks of Paine. We move on to the Lake Pehoé, a beautiful lake of turquoise water due to the sediments of the glaciers, and take a walk to the Salto Grande (Big Waterfall) where you can appreciate the great views over the Big Mount Paine, the Peaks of Paine, the glacier The French and the Small Mount Paine, also knows as Mount Almirante Nieto. After  this great moments we will have lunch.


    We continue to the sector Grey and if we are lucky we will be able to see more than one huemul on the route. We will cross a forest full of woodpeckers before we get to the shore of the Lake Greak. Here we can realize a hike towards the viewing point of the glacier Grey. Then we make our way back to Puerto Natales. Arrival at the hotel.

  • Day 12 Day 12. Glaciers Balmaceda and Serrano

    Breakfast in the hotel. We will realize an amazing boat trip through the fjord of the Last Hope towards the glaciers Balmaceda and Serrano. On the way you can observe various colonies of seals and cormorants. After arriving at the glaciers we take a walk of about 1.000 meters on the route of Puerto Toro through a beautiful forest until we get to the impressive Glacier Serrano. Here we have time to take some pictures, then we return to the boat to continue to the Glacier Balmaceda, a wonderful glacier located in Mount Balmaceda (2.222m). After a tasty patagonian lunch we finally make our way back to Puerto Natales where we will arrive around 17:00 hrs. Transfer to the hotel.

  • Day 13 Day 13. Puerto Natales – Perito Moreno

    Breakfast in the hotel, full day excursión to the Glacier Perito Moreno. From El Calafate we will circle the southern part of the Argentinean Lake, passing the Round Bay where you can observe a great varoety of birds. The first 40km lead us through the patagonian veld, then we enter the National Park of the Glaciers. Here the vegetation is dominated by typical trees of Patagonia. Once we get to the glacier we will go to the main balcony. From there you can explore the walkways freely and appreciate this natural spectacular from different points of view. In the afternoon we return to Puerto Natales.

  • Day 14 Day 14. Puerto Natales – Santiago

    Breakfast in the hotel. At the indicated time we take a bus to the airport of Punta Arenas to return to Santiago. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.

  • Day 15 Day 15. Santiago – Easter Island

    Breakfast in the hotel. At the indicated time we bring you to the airport in Santiago to take the flight to the Easter Island. Reception at the airport with a flower necklace, then regular transfer to the hotel.


    In the afternoon we start our trip at 15:00 hrs from the village Hanga Roa visiting Ahu Vinapu which was used by the indigenous since 1.200 BC. It includes 3 Ahu, the first one containing 6 Moai that were painted in red, the second one containing one feminine Moai and the third one  is the oldest one. We continue towards the stone quarry of Puna Pau, an archaeological site east of Hanga Roa in a small crater where earlier the Pukao were created which were used to crown the Moai. Afterwards we get tu Ahu Akivi, the first Ahu that was restored in 1960. The platform contains 7 Moai and is one of the few located in the center os the island. A legend says that those 7 Moai represent the 7 young explorers that were sent to the island before the arrival of Hotu Matua’a. Our adventure takes us to Te Pahu, used as a living place in time of conflicts. Then we return to Hanga Roa.

  • Day 16 Day 16. Easter Island

    We leave Hanga Roa around 9:30am. This day of the tour will take us along the coast on the south-east of the island to the north-eastern part to visit the temple Ahu Vaihu. It consists of a platform with 8 Moai and 8 Pukao. In continuation we stop at tha Ahu Akahanga, also called platform of the king. It tells the story of the grave of Hotu Matua’a that is said to be located close to this Ahu. Here you will find 4 platforms, 12 Moai, 8 Pukao and one of the oldest villages on the island.


    We move on to the Ahu Tongariki which contains 15 Moai and therefor is the biggest Ahu on the island. Following the route we will get to the Ahu Te Pito Kura. The highest Moai is located here, it measures 10 meters of height, weighs 85 tons and is called the Moai Paro. On the side of this ceremonial temple you will find a huge stone which is known as the navel of the world. It is said that this rock was brought to the island by Hotu Matua’a.


    Our next stop is the Ahu Nau Nau, a temple with a complex construction due to its different levels. You will find 5 Moai with Pukao with petroglyphs on their backs. Continuing the journey we will get to the volcano and the stone quarry Rano Raraku where most of the Moais were made. To create them the people used volcanic stone, and still you can see more than 400 Moais in various phases of construction.


    To finish the adventure of the day we visit the beautiful beach of Anakena, a beach with white sand that was chosen for the arrival of Hotu Matua’a and his sister Avareipua. Return to the hotel.

  • Day 17 Day 17. Easter Island

    Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning we visit the volcano Rano Kau, the city and the holy temple of Orongo, the area of Vinapu and finally the cave of Anaka Tai Tangata that is famous for its old paintings. Acommodation in the hotel.

  • Day 18 Day 18. Easter Island – Santiago

    After the breakfast we realize the transfer to the airport. Arrival in Santiago and transfer to the hotel.

  • Day 19 Day 19. Santiago – Viña del Mar – Valparaíso – Santiago

    Breakfast in the hotel, at 08:30 am we start our trip of about 120km towards the pacific coast. On the way you can appreciate the diversity of the landscapes. We will pass the Valley Curacaví and the Valley of Casablanca which mainly is known for the production of the white wine Sauvignon Blanc, among others.


    We will get to Valparaíso (Legislative Capital and main harbor of Chile), recently declared Cultural Patrimony . The city surprises with its colorful houses that are enclaved in the hills and make it a pintoresque place.


    You will get to see the main attractions such as the Victoria Square, Sotomayor Square, the Monument to the Naval Glories May 21st (viewing point from where you can appreciate the impressive harbor) and also we will walk up some of the hills of the city. Taking the old lift of “Cerro Alegre” (Happy Hill) will help you appreciate even more the interesting ambience of Valparaíso. Afterwards we make a stop at the house of Pablo Neruda “La Sebastiana”.


    Continuing the tour we get to Viña del Mar, known as the Garden City. Here we will visit the Flower Clock, the Casino and then have lunch after taking a short walk on the beach.On our way back to Santiago you can get to know the „Quinta Vergara“, place where every year an international music festival takes place. Return to Santiago, arrival at the hotel around 19:00 hrs.

  • Day 20 Day 20. Wine Route „Concha y Toro“

    On this day we are going to make one of the most classic tours in Santiago. We will pick you up at your hotel to make our way to the vineyard „Concha y Toro“. After 40 minutes we get to Pirque where our visit begins at Melchor Square. You will be received by a local guide who will invite you to enjoy the panoramic view over the vineyard with a glass of wine to get familiar with the tastes and smells of the wine cellar of this old company.


    With the glass in your hand a walk back in time through an old park until getting to the mansion of Pirque where once the family Concha y Toro lived. In this place more than 100 years ago the biggest wine company of our country was founded.


    In Pirque you can get to know about the culture and the technologies that are responsible for the production of a wine of the best quality. While discovering the old instaltions and the legend of the vineyard, Concha y Toro offers you a glass of its famous Cabernet Sauvignon.

  • Day 21 Day 21. Santiago – Airport

    At the convenient time we realize the trasfer to the airport.

A legend says that those 7 Moai represent the 7 young explorers that were sent to the island before the arrival of Hotu Matua’a. Our adventure takes us to Te Pahu, used as a living place in time of conflicts. Then we return to Hanga Roa.

    Day 16. Easter Island

    We leave Hanga Roa around 9:30am. This day of the tour will take us along the coast on the south-east of the island to the north-eastern part to visit the temple Ahu Vaihu. It consists of a platform with 8 Moai and 8 Pukao. In continuation we stop at tha Ahu Akahanga, also called platform of the king. It tells the story of the grave of Hotu Matua’a that is said to be located close to this Ahu. Here you will find 4 platforms, 12 Moai, 8 Pukao and one of the oldest villages on the island.


    We move on to the Ahu Tongariki which contains 15 Moai and therefor is the biggest Ahu on the island. Following the route we will get to the Ahu Te Pito Kura. The highest Moai is located here, it measures 10 meters of height, weighs 85 tons and is called the Moai Paro. On the side of this ceremonial temple you will find a huge stone which is known as the navel of the world. It is said that this rock was brought to the island by Hotu Matua’a.


    Our next stop is the Ahu Nau Nau, a temple with a complex construction due to its different levels. You will find 5 Moai with Pukao with petroglyphs on their backs. Continuing the journey we will get to the volcano and the stone quarry Rano Raraku where most of the Moais were made. To create them the people used volcanic stone, and still you can see more than 400 Moais in various phases of construction.


    To finish the adventure of the day we visit the beautiful beach of Anakena, a beach with white sand that was chosen for the arrival of Hotu Matua’a and his sister Avareipua. Return to the hotel.

    Day 17. Easter Island

    Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning we visit the volcano Rano Kau, the city and the holy temple of Orongo, the area of Vinapu and finally the cave of Anaka Tai Tangata that is famous for its old paintings. Acommodation in the hotel.

    Day 18. Easter Island – Santiago

    After the breakfast we realize the transfer to the airport. Arrival in Santiago and transfer to the hotel.

    Day 19. Santiago – Viña del Mar – Valparaíso – Santiago

    Breakfast in the hotel, at 08:30 am we start our trip of about 120km towards the pacific coast. On the way you can appreciate the diversity of the landscapes. We will pass the Valley Curacaví and the Valley of Casablanca which mainly is known for the production of the white wine Sauvignon Blanc, among others.


    We will get to Valparaíso (Legislative Capital and main harbor of Chile), recently declared Cultural Patrimony . The city surprises with its colorful houses that are enclaved in the hills and make it a pintoresque place.


    You will get to see the main attractions such as the Victoria Square, Sotomayor Square, the Monument to the Naval Glories May 21st (viewing point from where you can appreciate the impressive harbor) and also we will walk up some of the hills of the city. Taking the old lift of “Cerro Alegre” (Happy Hill) will help you appreciate even more the interesting ambience of Valparaíso. Afterwards we make a stop at the house of Pablo Neruda “La Sebastiana”.


    Continuing the tour we get to Viña del Mar, known as the Garden City. Here we will visit the Flower Clock, the Casino and then have lunch after taking a short walk on the beach.On our way back to Santiago you can get to know the „Quinta Vergara“, place where every year an international music festival takes place. Return to Santiago, arrival at the hotel around 19:00 hrs.

    Day 20. Wine Route „Concha y Toro“

    On this day we are going to make one of the most classic tours in Santiago. We will pick you up at your hotel to make our way to the vineyard „Concha y Toro“. After 40 minutes we get to Pirque where our visit begins at Melchor Square. You will be received by a local guide who will invite you to enjoy the panoramic view over the vineyard with a glass of wine to get familiar with the tastes and smells of the wine cellar of this old company.


    With the glass in your hand a walk back in time through an old park until getting to the mansion of Pirque where once the family Concha y Toro lived. In this place more than 100 years ago the biggest wine company of our country was founded.


    In Pirque you can get to know about the culture and the technologies that are responsible for the production of a wine of the best quality. While discovering the old instaltions and the legend of the vineyard, Concha y Toro offers you a glass of its famous Cabernet Sauvignon.

    Day 21. Santiago – Airport

    At the convenient time we realize the trasfer to the airport.
